Have fun with this Augmented Reality App by Jasper Cousins
Using your phone (Android only) this Augmented Reality app allows you to see life and movement pop out from two Forest of Dean Murals, the art sometimes engulfing sitting friends. In The Fountain pub, Parkend, you will find Warren James reciting Max Freedman Fisher’s HOOF (hands off our forest) anthem -‘Not for Sale’ – as leaves and birds fly. In The Dog House, Coleford, Thomas Bewick-style 18th century cartoons discuss customers while a dog keeps angels at bay.
The murals are by Tom Cousins with the app created by his son Jasper. This father and son collaboration started when Covid-19 spelled the end to Jasper’s work in London and on returning to the Forest, he could use his digital skills to reimagine his father’s murals. They wanted to do something for these two local pubs, hard hit by lockdown, bringing entertainment to the public as we venture out into the community again. The two pubs are: The Fountain at Parkend (GL15 4JD Tel 01594 562189) and the Dog House, Coleford (GL16 8AP 07442 787015). Please check opening hours. More info here
