Join our free woodland gathering, come play, create, feast and be entertained. Bring food (or buy from a small selection of vendors) and picnic amongst the trees.
The evening’s entertainment includes our travelling theatre show ‘Heart to Hart’, featuring a retinue of woodland characters, extraordinary jazz musicians and Engage Youth Circus, with special guests The Berry Hill Brass Band. Art Blast will be running creative workshops for children and playful adults.
After 8pm, as darkness falls, journey into the forest with the world premiere of ‘Tree and Wood’, exploring our relationship with trees and forests. Directed by Jony Easterby, known for his immersive sound and light works, Jony has teamed up with award-winning musician and composer Nathaniel Mann (of the Dead Rat Orchestra) to devise a brand new musical performance.
Immerse yourself on a journey into the forest during the onset of darkness where the sounds of nature, labour, industry and song will transport you into a dreamlike realm through a series of installations, animated mechanics, music and performance, bringing smell, touch and sounds to the forefront of our consciousness. Collaborating with a diverse range of multi-talented artists, ‘Tree and Wood’ is at the forefront of this form of art experience in outdoor settings.
This is a woodland site and we will endeavor to make as much of the site wheelchair accessible as possible, but assistance may be required. If you need assistance please inform one of the stewarding team.
The event will be Held in the woodland surrounding the car parking area at Symonds Yat Rock. There is a wheelchair-accessible path marked with green arrows in the surrounding woodland. It is approximately two miles long. In the central section it is a bit steep and rocky; if you don’t like the look of that stretch, retrace your steps back to the tarred road and follow that back to the main car park.
There will be allocated disabled parking close to the entrance to the performance site For the event we will be using the main car parking areas which are signposted off the main road and are approached along a one-way system, with pay and display parking fees of £3 per day.
A toilet block with separate accessible WC, Radar key operated, and baby changing facilities is close to the main car park
