Tintern Abbey has been a place of pilgrimage for hundreds of years. Join our pilgrimage walk to the Museum of the Moon from the Kymin, near Monmouth (11 miles, challenging walk). Meet at the Wireworks Carpark in Tintern at 11.30am, where you can park all day. A mini bus will transport you to the start of the walk at The Kymin where you will meet your guides, National Trust wardens Martin and Sarah. The route follows Offa’s Dyke path down to Bigsweir Bridge and then runs beside the Wye for the second half of the walk. Along the way Sarah and Martin will share some historical facts about pilgrimage. Arriving in Tintern at 6.30pm a simple pilgrim’s soup supper will be served by the local community in the village hall, before visiting the Museum of the Moon in the Abbey.
There will be a comfort stop at Lindors Hotel where you can buy a snack or picnic in the grounds. Please wear walking boots and wet weather gear if needed. Please note public toilets are far and few on this walk!
Well behaved dogs welcome on a lead.
