Take Part

If you fancy taking part in the River Festival here are a few ways you can get involved:

Take part in a Fire Torch/ Lantern Parade

You can join the fun by carrying a Fire torch or a Lantern as part of parades in Monmouth, Llandogo and Tintern. There will be workshops throughout the spring where you can make a lantern to carry at the River Festival.  To take part in the parades you will need to arrive early and attend a Safety Briefing.

Be a fire torch and procession champion

The Fire Torch Parades we hold are the highlight of the Festival for many visitors. In 2020 we are planning to hold 3 participatory processions in Monmouth, Tintern and Llandogo for the Festival Finale. The processions will include acting, dancing and members of the public carrying fire torches and hand-made lanterns. We need to ensure people’s safety at the same time as creating a fun atmosphere. That is where you come in. We need marshals to help keep people safe in a theatrical way!

When will this happen?

9th May Monmouth Town Centre along Monnow Street 8:00pm-10:30pm

15th May Tintern Village to Tintern Abbey 8:00pm-10:30pm

16th May Llandogo village and riverside 8:00pm-10:30pm

Host the Time Fair Booths

As part of this year’s Festival there will be a mini Time Fair with a number of booths providing a fun-filled insight into aspects of ‘time’, our theme for the Festival in 2020. The theatrical ensemble will host these areas and we are looking for people with a love of performing who would like to host the Time Fair alongside the ensemble actors.
